Greg Vail is a professional poker player, author of the SCOOP! book series, and a split pot games coach. Originally from Minnesota, he went to high school in Colorado, then moved to Phoenix in 2003. Greg discovered poker while attending Arizona State, and by 2005, he was playing professionally. In 2011, he enlisted in the Army, and in 2015 he was honorably discharged with full disability from injuries sustained during his four years of service. Greg returned to professional poker and moved back to Colorado to be closer to his family.
In 2015, he decided to write a short paper to help his Holdem-playing friends play better at the Omaha 8 or better table. That paper eventually led to the publication of his two books: SCOOP! Big O and PLO8: Winning High Low Concepts for the Holdem Mind (Volume I), and SCOOP! Big O and PLO8: Advanced High Low Concepts for the Holdem Mind (Volume II). Greg’s third volume—SCOOP! Big O and PLO8: Expert High Low Concepts for the Holdem Mind also is now available.
Greg lives in Denver, Colorado with his daughter, Madeline. You can find him playing poker in Blackhawk, Colorado and at the SA Card House in San Antonio, Texas. When he's not at a table, he manages and plays for an adult baseball team on Sundays, and spends as much time as he can with his family.
